Recently I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about how I was bullied when I was younger. It made me feel alienated, disjointed and all around upset.
When I look back on it I wouldn’t change it for the world though. The issues I’ve had have only made me stronger as a person. Today I probably wouldn’t be a college student, musician, writer or artist. I’d be ordinary.
It was still hard, and it was still painful. I will not lie to you about that, but in the long run the pain we go through can only make us learn something.
Calling someone a name will not make you smarter, prettier, skinnier or happier. It will only hurt that person in a way that you will never understand.
I’ve learned that everyone has their cross to bear. it does not matter what that ‘cross’ is, but it exists. I hope that all of you reading this have not felt the way I have for being different…
I hope you never will be ridiculed for wearing certain clothing, or talking a certain way or singing certain songs. I hope you never have to hide who you are because you’re intimidated by a new environment full of people who dismiss you as soon as you sit down in class.
The next time you go to say something inappropriate or rude about another human being, think about how you would feel if someone said that about you.
Sorry for this post, but I’m just sick of seeing others in pain.
